For Cloudbet, the original Bitcoin casino and sportsbook, staying one step ahead of the competition is a daily exercise. One of my responsibilities at KISSLabs was to ensure their old dusty casino to reflected the sophisticated changes that had been happening behind the scenes as well as broaden their appeal to a non-crypto savvy audience. In addition they were busy introducing a number of new crypto currencies, different types of games and initiatives and needed to share the updates to their customers, affiliates and wider network.

Sometimes the problems to solve are simple but still need to be thought through — like how can the UI help a user if they don’t want to see something. Sometimes though you can let your hair down and have a little more fun and really flex…
Cloudbet wanted to launch a provably fair arcade and position it differently from the other casino whatnots they offered. Researching the audience highlighted the need for simplicity as the games are just that, and a visual differentiation from the more traditional casino games out there. I quickly settled on retro-vaporwave. Its satirical take on capitalism, pop culture and nostalgia for the past seemed the perfect fit. Hero graphics were scamped and tested before digging out a time machine and diving deep into 1980s subculture. Using a mix of traditional vector illustration, 3D and blending masterclasses Cloudbet’s Arcade was born.
The project finished up with the creation of a targeted landing page to inform and educate customers on how these provably fair games differ to traditional RNG casino games.
